Lunar Base 10 with an Astronomical Telescope is a novel concept of a lunar settlement composed of a number of structures placed in the vicinity of the Lunar North Pole. A detailed analysis of the lunar surface showed a number of serious drawbacks for setting up an IR liquid mirror telescope on the Lunar South Pole which is part of the LB10. The base is robotically deployed and covered with a sintered regolith on a mountain peak at not farther than 0.2° latitude from the North Pole. The base deployable structures were designed as a single module payload for a heavy lift launcher that can deliver 50 tons to LEO.
