GLOBAL MOON VILLAGE
ESA director general Johann-Dietrich Wörner outlined his vision of Moon Village as an approach to international collaboration in exploring the Moon. XTEND created a series of visions of a lunar base for Moon Village Association as continuation of research at NASA JPL and International Space University. The 2020 concept is located on the rim of Shackleton crater on the lunar south pole, inspired by SinterHab and Marsha modules. The astronaut girl is actually Katarina Eriksson, the architect of the SinterHab module behind her.
The Moon Village Association (MVA) has been created as a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Vienna. Its goal is the creation of a permanent global informal forum for stakeholders like governments, industry, academia, and the public interested in the development of the Moon Village. The MVA fosters cooperation for existing or planned global moon exploration programs, be they public or private initiatives.
