Guido Sbrogiò
Member of Initiative for Interstellar Studies (i4is.org)
BACKGROUND
Guido Sbrogio’ is an astrophysicist and space mission designer by training, passionate of robotic and human solar system exploration and beyond. Guido acquired in-depth knowledge of spacecraft design for planetary remote sensing and space astrophysical observatories as well as planetary surface exploration and interplanetary mission design. tegration in the mission life-cycle process.
As part of the 2024 MSc SEEDS team, Guido worked as a mission analyst and in human-system integration. He contributed to the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) presentation at the ESA-ESTEC Concurrent Design Facility of the Moon2Mars mission named DEMETRA (Demonstration of Experimental Martian Exploration Technologies in a Relevant Architecture). The aim of this mission is to test technologies, operations and capabilities on the Moon in order to develop and design future human missions to Mars.
Guido worked as team leader on the 2025 Project Hyperion Design Competition organised by the Initiative for Interstellar Studies, winning first prize in the competition. He developed a preliminary architectural and systems concept study exploring crewed interstellar travel via generation spaceships using current and near-future technologies. He also developed a concept study for future deep space cities for the 2025/26 Aurelia Institute Prize Competition.
He is currently researching and exploring new and innovative technological concepts in space architecture and future mission design. He is focusing particularly on pioneering expandable and evolvable infrastructure scenarios for long-duration, sustained deep-space human settlements for commercial, industrial, habitable and scientific use, with the aim of maximising self-sufficiency in terms of resources.
