Mark Garcia

Mark teaches Digital Architectural Histories, Theories and Futures on the MArch Architectural Design, Digital Design Theory MRes and 21st Century London Architectures at the Bartlett School of Architecture and in the Department of History of Art at University College London. He has worked as an academic at St. Antony’s College (University of Oxford), as Research Co-ordinator in the School of Innovation Design Engineering and as Deputy Head and Head of Research (2003-2010) in the Department of Architecture and Interiors, both at the Royal College of Art in London. He has worked in practice at Branson Coates Architecture and Skidmore Owings and Merrell.

Mark is currently working on the publication Posthuman Architectures AD (Wiley 2024). He is the guest-editor of ‘Architextiles AD’ (2006), ‘Patterns of Architecture AD’ (2010), ‘Future Details of Architecture AD’ (2014) and the editor of The Diagrams of Architecture (Wiley 2010). He has lectured and exhibited his work around the world and his 2017 solo show of photographs on the models of Zaha Hadid was exhibited at Cornell University (School of AAP) in the USA. His PhD is on ‘The 21st Century Posthuman Architectural Design of Spacecraft’ (supervised by Professor Mario Carpo and Professor Nat Chard, part of the Architecture and Digital Theory research programme at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.
